Ah, the dining room, if there is one room in the house that you clean up for company, it’s probably this one. Many wonderful and perhaps awkward family gatherings will take place in the dining room. Sometimes an important conversation will take place at the dining room table. You can’t have these kinds of conversations on some card table that looks like it will collapse if you lean on it. You’re an adult now, and you need dining room furniture that conveys that. But don’t make the mistake of placing a big sturdy table in the middle of the room all by itself. The dining room first and foremost has to be inviting. Maybe a server or sideboard will help break up the room a bit. You can’t go wrong with a mirror somewhere either if only so you can roll your eyes to yourself every time a bad joke is made.
